If you ride long and far enough you'll eventually run into someone who will take exception to your vest/patch arrangement. Depending on who is doing the asking it could be a casual conversation, or it could be something else. If you are asked/told that you can't fly the patch in whatever area you're in, you'll generally be given the opportunity to remove the vest and stow it on your bike. Then they'll probably buy you a beer and share war stories with you. If it's a belligerent drunk doing the asking, be sure of your surroundings before you decide what your response will be.

Y'all have earned the right to display your pride in your service. But y'all are taking that into another culture, and in that culture you have earned nothing except the respect due for serving your country. That is not the same as earning the right to fly a patch that might be considered by some to infringe upon their culture.

Check around your area for any Marine MCs - Leathernecks MC, Devil Dogs MC are a couple. Ask them what they think about it and make any decision you must upon their advice.

thanks man.. that says it all.

I have wondered about the military rockers also.... There is a local Leatherneck chapter I have seen at a few bike nights, next time I see them (in a month or so, when it warms up) I intend to ask their opinion.

I tend to agree that those of us that "earned the title" also earned the rocker.

Any Leatherneck MC members on here? I believe I have seen a few.

No "MC", no location on the bottom. You'll be fine. The worst thing that can happen is that the other guys buy you a beer.

I don’t think you will have a problem brother.
If someone does say something to you out of respect for them take it off. Then when you get out of the area put it back on. Just like we do when the Sgt Major tells you to take you hands out of your pockets when it is freezing cold out. J

I would be surprised if anyone would hassle USMC vets because of their service to our nation. Maybe some wanna bees but the real MC clubs would respect it IMO. Thanks for your service.

A 1% patch holder gives a chit about other MC's unless they are infringing on their territory and not just a pass through or some such. I used to be one. Show some respect and mostly you'll get respect in return.

No claiming territory, no MC cube, you should be good. Keep in mind though, there's always going to be a person or group looking to make a name for themselves. Genuine MC community probably wouldn't give you a second look, "Hoppers" would.

And Lyle, damn, dude, learn to spell!

I'm not tryingin to **** anyone off, and I understand the respect issue, but if a guy has served his country in any branch, I believe they have earned the right to wear what thay want, whereever they want. I believe they deserve that type of respect.
Now that might make some guys angry, but VETS put it on the line for us, they made the sacrafice for freedom and some have paid dearly for it, In my humble opinion they get a pass everywhere, anywhere and all the time. JMO
