I would certainly hope that you shouldn't run into any problems. On the contrary, I would expect you'd receive a warm welcome in a lot of places. As a retired Air Force medic (and took care of a lot of Marines along the way), I thank you for your service and what you and your companions have done and are still doing. You have my respesct along with the respect of a lot of other people. I would say wear it and wear it with pride, but also with some humility. This is what I do as an American Legion Rider. If you wander into the wrong bar or other potential 1% territory, be mindful and if needed simply leave. As for the other 99% of bikers/riders, we'll know who you are and will treat you accordingly. The abscense of the MC patch explains what you're not.
There's more to a 1%er vest than a 3 or 4 patch setup. Most will give a territory identification (usually a state) and others might say "chapter". Some ALR riders say Chapter on their vests (ours say Post 383 for that reason). Most people who understand the differance between a 3 or 4 patch vs. a 1 patch design should be savy enough to tell the meaning behind yours. If you need a plan B, just tell them the design is aimed at the terrorists and enemies of freedom.... I would think it would be pretty stupid to fluct with a Marine biker as I'm sure your brotherhood is much bigger and badder than theirs is. Semper Fi brother...

I was told I was okay in our "local" area, but some MCs in other locations may have a problem with it since it looks like a three piece. Going to be doing some cross country riding solo and wondering if I have the ***** to wear it riding solo?
Ready for flames, encourgement and other words of advice. haha
Guys, appreciate all the insight and information. First off - I was in no way trying to stir the pot by trolling a controversial thread here. I figured the easiest way to get an honest answer to an honest question was to ask it here. I wanted to base my decision to wear the vest based on comments I receive from here. I am positive that the MC community is well represented on the forum and would offer sage advice of "wear it with pride" or "wear it at your own risk."
I have wore my vest before in an area that had the local MC endorsement, but would like to know what thoughts are concerning a cross country solo trip. I seemed to have received my answer. Thanks to all that replied, either with support or to flame Johnny New Guy.
I have tremendous pride in the Marine Corps and my MOS, but wish no disrespect to the MCs out there. If I look somewhat like a poser, I can live with that. If I am crossing a line that will get me an a$$ beating along the side of a lonely highway, then I am willing to shelve the vest until I am in my own backyard. I am doing nothing more than gathering G2 on the situation to see where the MC folks that hang out in these forums think.
FYI - I am currently overseas and cannot go ask my friendly neighborhood MC what their thoughts on the matter are.

the problem you may have is because its a 3 piece patch with rockers!!
i have heard of MC guys in australia stopping some HOG guys with 3 piece with rockers
and making them remove the rockers on the spot!!
they pretty much crapped there pants!
i would of thought having USMC on however should get you respect including from MC
good luck with it you deserve to wear it in a country you served and protected!

You can wear any patch you are willing to fight for.
How about this jacket. I wear it all winter. Only one dumb a--s (He didn't belong to any MC) ever asked me about it and I made the statment that if any MC club wants to whip up on me at my ages of 70+ and a retired military man, well bring it on. lol. Seriously, Still reading Chuck Zito's book, "Street Justice". On page 114 second paragraph he states: "I don't care in the least, just as long as they don't wear anything related to the Hells Angels. That is simply not allowed. We don't let anyone else wear red and white or the skull and wings-the "death head." Thats's our trademark. It's copyrighted, it's patented and we the Hells Angels are the only ones who wear it. It you don't know who Chuck Zito is, google him up. Here's mine,
In all honesty, I put the City and State rocker on just in case I was ever in a serious crash, at least they would know where I was from.
I aslo wear dogtags in case my head leaves my body. MOTORBONES has it right.
