Default 3 Engines Harley Y bother, opinions wanted

I realize you guys may have had this discussion already and I missed it, if so sorry. I'm not interested in buying a new bike, so maybe I shouldn't care but with all the talk on here about the new factory customizing plans for the sportster I ended up checking all the new bikes on thier website.

I thought for the last few years that basically it worked like this.
96 inch engine is standard in all big twins
103 inch engines is optional in all big twins
110 inch engines limited to CVO bikes

What I've found out is that the 103 is basically only available on the 2 top Batwing bikes, the Fugleys and the street glide as part of the powerpack upgrade.

So what I'm wondering is why even bother having 3 different engines? I thought the whole point of it was the guys who wanted more power could upgrade. I think its strange that you can't get a Heritage or a Road king with a 103, I mean loaded up those bikes are gonna be heavy.
According to what i read none of the bikes listed on Harley's website under "Dyna" or "softail" could be upgraded, seems like everyone and thier dog wants to hop up thier Dyna or thier softail to make it faster.

seems to me like the moco is missin the boat, what do you guys think? or am i wrong about what I'm reading and you really can get a 103 in everything?

My understanding is that, if you want to pay for it, you can put either the 103 or 110 in any bike you want. Granted may not be quite as cost effective as having it as a factory option but you COULD do it.

From your topic heading I assumed you were asking about:

1) the "A" engine
2) the "B" balanced engine
3) the Revo water cooled

What was the HP on your shovel in stock configuration? Apples and oranges.

Well I just bought a Rocker C in Jan. and had a 103 put in it. No issue at all on Harley 2010's they where giving a P&A credit that I could use for anything so I figured why no put it into the motor.

Skratch you are right about the RKC, sorry my bad. Albertabuck did the facory put the 103 in your bike or did the dealer? As for the 120 near as I can tell its just a crate motor. realize I was just playing games on harleys own websites to get the info I used.
The point I guess I was trying to make is that if bike motors are anything like car motors then each different one has to be designed, manufactured and go through epa tests and all of that cost's money, which is then made back at the sale of the bike, or car.
kinda seemed to me like it would be easier for the moco to make its money back by offering the 103 in everything for say an extra coupla grand, rather than just in a few big touring bikes. it also kinda woke me up to the fact that say 80 percent of the bikes Harley makes are 10 cubic inches smaller than what Victory is making.

I also realize that you could probably have a dealer install a 120 inch crate motor in your new bike before you take it home, but from a resale point of view down the road its not a factory built bike.

110 is special to the CVO's.

the 103 only available in touring would be to try and get people to spend some more and jump up to a touring or go from a RK to a RKC and spend more.

Having the 103 only offered in certain models may make some desire it more since not every model can get it.
