I just bought a 2011 Ultra Classic from Southside Harley Davidson in Virginia Beach. The bike was delivered to the dealer from the factory with the left side gas tank emblem upside down. Needless to say, it's covered under warranty and I can get it fixed at no cost to me during the next two years. My first question is, how rare is this? Has anyone ever seen or heard of this happening before from HD? None of the employees at the dealership (some been there for 20 years) have heard of this before. I think it's great and makes for a good conversation piece, not to mention how it will be fun to mess with people about it. My second question is, should I leave it, or let HD fix it?
Troll my ***...get a load of the pic. So is it a keeper, or should I have it repaired? I'm thinking of keeping it. I'm going to have some fun with it. And I'm not shy to keep the snot nosed little ba**tards from touching it.
Ok, so since I don't like being called a fraud, I took another picture. This one should do it. Looks like no pixilation this time. Plus really take a look at the refection of my knee in the tank and the emblem.
Here you go doubting bros. I scanned it then of course had to reduce the size for the upload to accept it so I hope you can read it. In not, I could really give a sh*t if anyone believes it or not, I was just looking for a few opinions...can't believe I spent this much effort today when I should have been riding.
hopefully that's the only thing they didn't do right
Note: 1.Any Harley Dealership that removed the shrink wrap would of notice that. Then would of token care of the problem before you even saw the bike. My reason for saying that is. When I bought my 2010 Ultra Limited there was troubles with the paint on the tank. This was from someone at the factory putting the shrink wrap on the tank before the paint was dry. Even before I saw the bike, the service department called for another tank. So I have a hard time believing this.....

Do you really think every shop does bus the same way?? They couldn't fix it on the spot because they are waiting on the emblem to arrive. In the mean time, why slow up a sale? These bikes fly off the shelf here in beautiful VB. The repair order says it all. I know it's hard to read, get a magnifying glass, the RO tells the story.

The emblem is put on the tank with double sided tape. Nothing more than removing it and turning it over. Been there, seen that and done that.
From: Southern California High Desert, here and there....
Uhhh....you can't just remove the emblem and turn it over, double sided tape or no. It's not just an upsidedown emblem that needs to be flipped over. It's a right side tank emblem affixed to the left side of the tank. That's why it looks like just an "upsidedown" emblem.
To the Photoshop police: Anyone who is good enough to get the reflections correct on the emblem should be good enough to smooth the pixelation. Often something that is photoshopped looks TOO good rather than flawed which is a giveaway that something's been altered. Compressed photos have flaws.
To Mongoose: I'd have them double and triple check everything on the bike as part of that work order. If the emblem is upside down, what else might be off?
