Has anyone come across a back support that works. I get back pain on long rides. I have a backrest, but when wife rides I can't use it. I feel like if I had some support in my lower back it would force me to not hunch over. I have replaced seat 2 times. I now have a sundowner. I have changed bars to 10" with 7" pull back.
Thanks.
Your bars are not in the right place, but also for long trips where you need to take luggage. At least on my Dyna, I use a Biker Friendly Med-Large bag for a backrest. I use stock bars with 2" loners, and have changed out my seat to a Fat Bob seat.
But it sounds like your having bar and peg placement issues.

The farther back your torso goes, the more pressure you're putting on your lower back, plus all the road bumps get more to the lower back too. Mid pegs help to take the weight off.
I have been very comfortable with the HD adjustable backrests.
See your chiro or physiotherapist and get a back belt. You wrap it around your mid-section and pull on two "wings" to sinch it up tight. It has boning like as girdle and supports your lower back. Lots of guys with damaged discs use them.
You shouldn't be "hunched" over when riding. It sounds to me as if your handlebars are too far forward in relation to your seating position. Try pullback risers to ride more upright.
Try this, sit on your bike and close your eyes, raise your arms up to a comfortable height and close your hands. Open your eyes and see what the distance is between where your hands are and where the grips are to them.
I have had several back surgeries, so it makes it tough for me to ride much anymore. I had a corbin seat with a backrest, which was very good.
Recently I picked up a Mustang backrest to use with my HD Comfort stitch
seat, and the mustang backrest ROCKS! It's much better than any
of the HD backrests, and even better than the Corbin.
It fits perfectly witht he Harley seat, and gives my back the support
and adjustability I need. Buy one, you won't regret it.
Mustang has the best backrest on the market!!
Peace
I have a very bad back but find a lot of comfort on long rides with my mustang solo with a backrest and a leather kidney belt..The belt keeps me from slouching..

The Captain is right, a good seat and Kidney belt will help a lot.
