I have a severe case of trigger fingers, one on each hand. At first, they were just a nuisance, but now have started to get a little painful. I use braces at night which doesn't seem to do any good. I have had both palms shot. The shots helped for a couple of days. Has anyone had the surgery to correct this? Did it eliminate the problem? Did the triggers come back? Thanks.
Sorry to hear about your problem. I've had 2 fingers on each hand that triggered, and I know what that can be like. Mine were real painful - like I would do anything to avoid having them trigger. I can't give you medical advice, but I can share my experience.
The cortisone shots worked, but only temporarily. As you probably know, they can't repeat them more than a couple times or you risk permanant tendon problems. The splint only endangered my eyes at night.
I had my clutch hand operated on last January (index and 3rd), and by May I was able to pull and hold the clutch in good enough to feel safe riding again. First of October I had the middle & pinky done on my right, and 2-1/2 weeks later, I was able to operate the front brake and throttle safely. Since the operation is in the palm actually, your finger(s) will be stiff to close, gradually allowing you to close deeper as the healing takes place, so gripping is affected the closer you get to closed fist. I would have them treated one hand at a time. No way to wipe your *** otherwise. [:@]
right hand, middle finger. the shots worked for only a short while, so i had the surgery. after 11 years, my finger is still a little sore but nothing compared to the way it was.
