Has anyone heard of or used the GaugeFace app for the iPhone. This looks really cool. Here is a link to their page. I am looking at getting this. I would really like to hear your opinions.

First time I ever saw this and don't intend on buying one. Let us know what you think if you get one.

Looks cool, I'd like to see it work. Don't know if it's $250 cool though.

Yup, seen about 4 or 5 posts on this.

Questions asked were

What are you going to do when it rains?
What about bugs and rocks hitting your ipod/iphone?
Screen is pretty small, so much of it seems pretty useless.
Doesn't come with mount or case and recommends no screen protectors.
Has the issues with it locking up been fixed? (This seems to be a problem if you run the cable to close to your ignition/spark plugs)

If you go this route, let us know how it works out!!

I recently looked at this, and then went with the Dakota Digital instead. There were just a lot of question marks for me with this system, as mentioned above. I would still be interested in hearing your review if you get it, though.

From what i was reading on their tech posts, it says to run the wire where there is no spark plug wires. On the sporty that is the right side of the tank, that should take care of the freezing up. I did not see anything about nor having a screen protector.

Items from their website, one is extra cost for mounting:

Do you provide the mount for my iPhone or iPod touch?

No. We do not provide a handlebar mount for your iPod. Check out RAM Mounts if you are looking for a really well made mount.

Next is the screen protector:

Isn't glare and the device shaking so much a problem?

We have found it is best to not use any kind of anti-glare screens or films. The best results are with the device as-is. Both the iPod touch and iPhone use solid state drive (SSD) technology. So with very little in terms of moving parts they make the perfect devices to use.

Finally no weather protections:

How about riding in the rain?

So you ride in the rain hey... well you can look for a water resistant case & mount but we haven't found one yet that we really like. Let us know if you find something that works well for you. Otherwise, best to put your iPod or iPhone away if it's really wet and then hope for nice weather to return.

I'd go with the Dakota Digital. Does most of the same functions, mounts in stock area, plug and play.

I have an iPhone because my wife gave me one. I'm still working on figuring out how to send a text message.

Exactly. And I don't have to charge it, remember it, or update it. It costs the same or cheaper depending on how you figure it. And I would definitely worry about that much vibration for that much time on an iphone. On the other hand, maybe their target audience is only riding as far as the mall anyway.
