Default Had a bike shipped to you?

Wondering for those of you that have had a bike shipped to you, does the shipper bring it to your door? Bike usually on a pallet? How do you and the shipper get the bike off the truck and the pallet? Thinking about having a bike shipped but just unsure what happens when it gets here, and how safe it is. Your experiences welcome..

Shipped to the dealer, then the dealer delivered in their F250/Trailer. No pallets... Bike was strapped down, rolled it off the trailer.

mine would be shipped from a HD Dealer 1000 miles away. Not sure if they ship to the local dealer, and they deliver as you mentioned, or if a transport brings it right to your house?

Shipped to my door, they unstrapped it from the pallet and rolled it into my garage.

I bought a used harley and had it transported by a private shipping company. He delivered to the large parking lot about a block from my house as his dodge dually and really long trailer wouldn't make the turns by my house. It was strapped down with blankets on it. He unstrapped it and rolled it off for me.

Just had a Boss Hoss shipped from Minnesota to our front door in Maine, by Haul Bikes. It was strapped down off the kickstand, inside their huge trailer designed for the task. These people were great to deal with.

I have used jcmotorcycle shippers. Here's the link http://www.motorcycleshippers.com/s_shippingprices.htm

They use a semi and bring the bike to your house as long as the truck can get down your street. If not they make other arrangements such as transferring the bike to a 5 ton. At this link you can see the pallets they use. The semi trailer had a lift gate capable of lowering the bike. I can't remember whether or not the pallet had retractable wheels to allow it to be moved from the trailer to the tailgate. I thought it was a pretty slick operation and would use them again.
