So I'm riding down the highway this morning and all is going well. Beautiful day with only a very slight chill in the air. I'm two exits away from where I have to get off and i hear something go clunk..clunk on the bike, then feel something hit my leg. Before I could even reach down and save it, it turns out my gas cap came flying off the bike...wth...i just had to shake my head and laugh it off...
I had that happen with a mirror one day. I was riding along, felt something hit my leg. I looked down just in time to see my mirror bounce across the road. I just kept right on going!
Got a little more lucky a couple of years ago. Cruising around Cape Cod when I feel something very heavy land on my leg, look down just in time to see that it is my GPS (guess the jury rigged mount wasn't quite up to the bumpy road) I reached down and pinned it to my leg until I could grab it. Into my jacket pocket with it.
When we stopped at the next light the OL asks "where's the GPS"...Told her "In my pocket". The light turned green so I didn't have to explain until we got back to the camper.
Sure was lucky that day
Also bought the correct mount for it at the next bike show
Was riding my '72 Triumph Tiger down the road, way back one night in '78. Suddenly, the engine sound changed drastically. I instinctively hit the brakes, and my muffler went skidding past me.
