Angry A-hole custom shop

So I'm fresh off my sour experience with the SECOND Harley dealership, looking for some longer 1/2" fine thread bolts (stainless or chrome) for my rear pegs. I ordered the female mounting hardware from Jireh (part # 23-140) and the bolts that come with it are only long enough to thread the mount on about 3 threads. Not exactly ideal. After an unsuccessful trip to the hardware store and all the automotive stores I try the local custom shop. I walk into the shop and explain my predicament. The guy who looks like he's in charge checks on one of their metal cabinets and comes up with some stainless bolts that will work. I say I'll take em. He asks if I've had work done here before. I say no. He says he's gotta check with the boss to see if he can sell them to me. He heads to the office and comes back to say, "Well he says I can sell them to you but it's gonna cost ya. 15 dollars." I almost s&!t my pants. I say thanks but I'm going to see if I can find some somewhere else cheaper, but if I can't I'll come back and buy them. Then he goes, "Well I might not sell them to you if you come back." After I give him an incredulous look he says, "Yeah, I'm kind of an a$$hole." Since when does being a custom shop mean you can afford to **** on customer relations? Do any of you guys run into this kind of thing?

I think you should spend 3 more days running all ove hell and back to try to save $10.
You said you already looked in the obvious places and could not find the bolts you needed. How much time are willing to invest to save $10?
You remind me of my wife she used to drive clear across town to save $.05 on a gallon of milk. Hell the gas she burned cost more than that.
How much is your time worth to you?

I don't think its a matter of price and what my time would be worth. I wouldn't buy anything from an A-hole like that if it took me a month to get them somewhere else. Its a matter of principle.

That guys does sound like an *******, but you should be able to get the passenger peg bolts anywhere - I got bolts and chrome spacers, to space mine out for toolboxes, at Tractor Supply, but Lowes and Home Depot have them too. I used stainless instead of chrome. Mine are 3/8" x 16, so they may be easier to find, but a good hardware/farm store should have some.

If you really want chrome, go to the local HD dealership and look around - they have a variety of lengths of chrome bolts and they can probably find what you are looking for.

I was told I could get a "deal" on something I wanted to buy once but if I walked away and didn't buy it right then he wouldn't sell it to me.

I walked and never came back.

I would have walked out too, let the bolts collect more dust. After he made his a**hole comment you should have said "you can add douchebag to the list".
