Starting to do some riding now on my 2010 Road King Classic and with this being the first time I've ridden with a windshield I have noticed how much more wind noise is created while riding. I do notice that when I remove the windshield the wind noise is greatly diminished.
I going to bet this is a common issue, so I'm looking for some ideas as how to combat this noise. I don't mind riding without a windshield around town, but when I do longer rides I'd like to have the windshield without all of the noise.
I do ride with earplugs and a full-face helmet, and while the noise isn't deafening, it's just more noticeable than when I ride without a shield. Is there a possibility I need a higher windshield, or would wind deflectors help cut down on the noise?
Try out a different windshield height. If the stock one is set up so that you are sitting in the turbulent zone, it could increase the noise you're hearing.
Try repositioning your legs, you may be able to change the noise. I did not notice noise as much as buffeting, I put the wind deflectors on and all is well.
From what I'm reading in my threads and from other stuff I've been searching on the internet I'm thinking buffeting is the more correct description of my issue. Probably stop at the dealer sometime soon and see if they can offer some assistance as well.
Just because of the size, a FF will have more buffeting. You are feeling the wind coming up over your knees into the low pressure area right behind the windshield. A good cure is to put those wind deflectors on the front forks, makes a huge difference.
I'm having problems with wind as well - at speed, I can't hear my freaking stereo. What do the wind deflectors look like that you're talking about? Are these the ones that bolt on to the bottom of the fairing?

I bought some Memphis Shades lowers the other day because of this issue. Due to the weather I haven't had a chance to test them out. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day. I had to buy some longer screws than provided to get them closer to the W/S.

No. They are "chrome wind deflectors" that attach to the fork brackets. Part # 58121-85B. Also, with a very slight trim they will fit with or without the lowers.
