Default Windshield/wind deflector question Road King Custom

I recently got a used RK Custom which is my first bike wtih a windshield. I cut the shield down to 17 inches so I could see over it. If I'm riding and I put my hand up in front of my face, I dont feel any wind on my hand until it is up over my head, so I think I cut it to a good height. Problem is yesterday I got into some rain and ended up getting rain all over my face and the lenses of my sunglasses. Am I wrong in thinking that the windshield is supposed to stop this? Maybe it just can't stop it all? My other wonder is this. The RK custom has that duckbill crome "deflector", and I was wondering if rain was actually coming throught the gap between the headlight and windshield and being "deflected" directly into my face. Anyone, particularly RK Custom riders have any input. Pretty sure that duckbill is coming off either way. Don't really care for the look so much.

No windshield will not stop all of the rain from getting on your glasses.

If you make it so its about level with your nose, then you can slouch down behind it if you need to, or you can sit up straight and look over it if you can't see through it. Mine is set so that in normal riding position, I'm slightly looking over it.

Every Harley that I owned with a windshield or fairing lets wind and rain come up from underneath and over the tank and into your face. If you ever see a rider with a beard riding behind a shield or fairing at speed his beard will be sticking up to the front.

I don't think that duckbill makes a difference. I like mine and plan on keeping it.

I have a 17" recurve Clearview on my RK Custom and I see over it by quite a lot and the wind protection is just as I like it. I feel no wind on my face but feel a breeze on the top of my head. However, rain does get on my goggles but not a real problem. The problem is fogging lenses.
