Default windshield

ok found a windshield, only problem is that its 20" and that means i really have to sit up tall to see over it. question is = is it better to have one to tall than to short. i was thinking about cutting 2" off it or buy one on good old ebay. funny thing is that the bike came with a Hoppe 5566 and i swear i looked though the windshield and never thought it to be a problem. i know about riding in the rain with one the is in sight but would it be just as bad having the rain in your face and on your glasses. did have a enjoyable ride testing it out.

Ideally, you would look over it. The top should be between your upper lip and the tip of your nose, or round about. I don't think looking through the shield is bad as long as it does not distort. But that's just me.

When the top of the windshield is 2" above my eyes, I meet my states requirement for eye protection and can ride without a face shield or glasses. Something I do regularly and frequently. It also seems to satisfy other states requirements, as I've never been pulled over for this during the many times I'm riding through other states throughout the Nation.

I've ridden in rain and mist many times, and have yet to find it impossible to reach my finger over the top of the windshield to wipe it off, if necessary.

I also prefer the calmer air of the taller windshield.

well as i said, the Hoppe 5566 is even higher that the windshield i have on it now and i didnt notice any problems. the only reason for the windshield is to get use to the bike. then ill put the fairing back on. guess best to leave it alone. i get into all kinds of trouble when im not working, to much free time on my hands.

As I have read many others say that they like to look thru the windshield as my nephew does I am going to also after 30yrs without one , Just for your information if you did not already know that Rain-X is now also made for plastic . I'm a firm believer in Rain-X for glass as I drove from Phila Pa to Jaxsonville Fla without turning the wipers on once and rain the whole way , that was the longest that I have done that , so with me it's looking thru and Rain-X for plastic

So, I put my oem windshield on yesterday to take a 45 minute ride (each way ) It has gotten cooler here in the north east, but I refuse to put the bike away just yet.
I don't know if it is the oem shield or what, but the head buffeting and the wind throwing me in every direction wasn't fun nor did it feel safe... YIKES!
Love my bike and I love riding, but I don't think Ibwould ever get this thing on the highway ever again.
Is every windshield like that?
My eye line is about 3" from the top edge, that part felt fine.

No substitute for correct height.
Mine is at mustache height, slightly looking over it. At highway speeds, the wind clears over the top of my helmet by about an inch. I also have an LRS Elite Recurve Windshield that is about an inch lower, wind over the helmet is the same as the other.
And, one more thing! Eye protection ALWAYS! SAFETY FIRST!
