but let's notforget our brothers with straight pipes, FatCats and ThunderHeaders.
Don't be a hater,,,,,It's not so much the pipes as it is the operator, I'm very respectfull with my bikes until I'm given a reason not to be. (meaning the neighbor that almost ran my Wife over and yelled at me to learn how to ride, and said those are dangerous) The one thing that makes me embarrassed for all Harley riders is the guy that cranks out his music as loud as it will go at a red light, and a stock crappy sound on top of it.
"You do not face draconian laws because my pipes are loud, you face draconian laws because you choose to live in a place where draconian behavior laws are common and you have decided to tolerate those laws..."

You do not face draconian laws because my pipes are loud, you face draconian laws because you choose to live in a place where draconian behavior laws are common and you have decided to tolerate those laws. My neighbors tolerate my pipes because I tolerate their minor transgressions. On any weekend throughout the summer I fully expect to hear multiple guns being fired at targets in backyards in my area. I don't get in their buisness they don't get in mine. I also live in town where hundreds of loud harley's roll in every weekend to patronize local buisness's so I guess it's kind of a give and take.
A quick google search reveals that Michigan has tried to pass state-wide motorcycle noise regulation several times already.
AMA has tried to get in front of it with the SAE measurement standards.
Because all other vehicles on the road require some sort of damping, and because open pipe bikes make up a small percentage of riders in general, it doesn't seem to have much resistance.
Do you seriously believe that ANYONE but the small minority of riders who choose to remove all exhaust damping consider it a right? Last time I checked 2A does not apply to motorcycles.
To everyone else, you're a nuisance. Good luck with that.

There was a time in this country when a Man could ride his loud scoot without a helmet to a bar, go inside and light up a smoke, down 4-5 beers, tell racist jokes, sexually harrass women, get into a scuffle, and ride home without fear of ending up in court. Then Oprah got a TV show. WTF happened to our sacks.
