There was a time in this country when a Man could ride his loud scoot without a helmet to a bar, go inside and light up a smoke, down 4-5 beers, tell racist jokes, sexually harrass women, get into a scuffle, and ride home without fear of ending up in court. Then Oprah got a TV show. WTF happened to our sacks.
Isn't that the bleeding truth , man cards are in short supply anymore and it doesn't look like any new ones have issued recently .

I don't think Oprah is the problem devildog, but she didn't help either.

Few bikes are louder than mine( V&H short shots wide open) I do my best in certain situations to stay off the throttle but I'm sure i still offend the noise police... don't care. There are many things daily that offend me, I don't whine and I expect the same from others. As far as restrictions, you keep bending your knees... I'll just keep raising my finger.

Just to clarify, I take issue with bikes or any other motor vehicle with no mufflers at all. And I don't understand why anyone would want to take the best-sounding bikes on the planet and make them sound like ***.
Any damped after-market exhaust is fine with me. So the beef I have is that the bureaucratic response is increasingly to ban any aftermarket muffler, since those will not have an EPA label. This may well get thrown out in court when challenged - but that will take a while. In the meantime, the only reason this is happening is due to motorcycles that have no mufflers at all, unlike any other motor vehicle on the road - in fact, almost any internal combustion engine. Many race cars and motorcycles must now meet dB limits.
The response of some of you seems to be "Daddy said not to get open pipes, so I got them." Maybe yall should watch Oprah or Dr. Phil or something and see if that helps? Are yall taking the mufflers off your car, truck, lawn mower and snow thrower as we speak? Cheering the teenagers who drive down the street cranking their tunes?
Since when does making noise make you a man? If you are such mad tight riders, take it to the track.

I don't blame Oprah, she's more of a symptom than a cause. And no loud pipes do not make someone a man, but layin down for a fat politician or a neighborhood busy body doesn't make a man either. Use the Kings roads, follow the Kings rules. I get that, I just want them to hear my voice when their makin the rules.
