Is it just me being a wuss or does anyone else hate riding in windy conditions ?
Here in the DFW area of Texas we have had 25-35 mile per hour (and higher) wind gust quite a bit lately and Ive gotten where i wont ride as much
I have the solid wheels which seems to catch wind even when its not blowing hard
Just wondering how others feel about it...
I feel your pain. I have gotten to the point I won't ride if the wind is over 20mph. It just takes the fun out of riding. (Maybe it's cuz I'm getting older). There isn't much wind today, and I'm about to head out riding, so y'all have fun.
Yea was riding in it yesterday and stopped short when NOAA had listed 80MPH gusts ahead of us...it is no fun. Have ridden in the ND winds as well and it still sucks. Yea you have to ride ready to adjust to the gusts but it still wears ya out...
Right now it's blowing at about 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph where I live just north of Los Angeles. I'll ride in wind like this if I have to, but not if I don't -- and today, I don't. My Heritage is extremely stable in the wind, but the wind will still beat the crap out of you. I also worry about what it will blow across the freeway.
Feeling a little sorry for the folks who rode the I15 to Laughlin for the River Run this weekend. That road is almost always nasty with respect to wind, and this weekend it's worse than usual.
Made the mistake of riding to Skyline Drive in VA, from Southern Maryland last fall to look at the leaves in 30mph sustained, 60mph gusts. About 150-180 miles. Wind was brutal and I should have stayed home. Worst part was going over a long, tall bridge where the seagulls were weaving between the traffic in front and back of me and myself. Only time I almost froze up and had to stop. By the time I got to Skyline, I was exhausted. Rode home the next day in calm winds and everything was fine. WAS a little nervous approaching the top of that bridge, but it was fine, and I've done the same bridge without edginess, since then. Gotta get back on the horse.
I enjoy riding in the wind. I also like riding in calm conditions. I don't mind riding in the heat, and riding in the cold is invigorating. I pretty much just like to ride in any conditions.
I think it's kind of a fun ride if the winds are around 30. Anything over that is a bit nerve racking. A long ride to in very windy conditions is very exhausting. Try this, if it's kicking up really good and pushing you all over the road kick you knees out to the sides as far away from the tank as you can. All speed eagle like. It will help balance you out and feel more stable if there's a stron crosswind. Seems contradictory but works for me.

Be careful out there. This happened Thursday, just south of
Buffalo, NY.
Southern Tier, NY

A Panama man died this afternoon after high winds caused him to crash his motorcycle on the Southern Tier Expressway in Sherman, according to Chautauqua County sheriff's officials.
A large wind gust caused Brian D. Range, 31, of South Street, to lose control of his motorcycle and leave the roadway, where he hit a mile marker sign. Range was an inexperienced motorcyclist and was riding near an experienced operator, officials said.
Range was transported by Sherman Volunteer Fire Department workers to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., where he later died. .

Riding a bagger in 50 mph crosswinds is no picnic, and when the wind is blowing from left to right and you pass a semi in the oncoming lane, it's literally enough to blow you right off the road.
