Is it just me being a wuss or does anyone else hate riding in windy conditions ?
Here in the DFW area of Texas we have had 25-35 mile per hour (and higher) wind gust quite a bit lately and Ive gotten where i wont ride as much
I have the solid wheels which seems to catch wind even when its not blowing hard
Just wondering how others feel about it...
Wind has been like that down here in Houston for atleast the past month. The good news is as long as the wind is blowing it won't feel near as hot, when the wind stops and it will it's gonna feel really warm.
last summer some friends and i went on a ride that was cut short due to high winds and rain...
driving past big open fields and high winds is no fun at all...
it honestly scared the crap out of me...i was leaning hard to the left to compensate and the slick roads made it feel as if i were being pushed across the road...
so NO to the op...i wouldnt say your a wuss...if i wanted to feel out of control id go to cedar point...
I just got in from a ride to Arizona this past Friday. Had to fight wind all the way from 29 Palms up the coast to the SF Bay Area, was a real thrill if you don't mind being whipped around like a ping pong ball in a lotto machine. Keeps you on your toes for sure. The only scary part was going through a tunnel by Gaviota, CA, the wind was whipping through there making for a ride in a vortex, had to fight the handlebars going every which way. Then there was the issue of the wind sucking my gas mileage, at $4.69 a gallon that hurt a lot!
Rode with my buddy from Cloudcroft NM to Carlsbad NM on Friday, we had 40 mph sustained with 55 - 60 gusts and I will say I never want to have to do that again.
I found dirt and sand in places on my body I thought would never get dirty with clothes on.

Engraved Rebellion: Inside Bundnerbike's Glam Rock II
So far I haven't got caught out in the wind with my Dyna. I am positive that it won't be anything like the ride I had with the wife last year as we headed to Colorado via Amarillo and Sante Fe on our Goldwing. I likened the ride in 40 MPH+ cross winds like holding a 4x8 piece of plywood. By the time we made Amarillo that first day I was whipped. We fought the wind for 3 straight days before it settled down. Having an air cooled engine has to allow more wind to flow thru then a sealed engine compartment like a Goldwing.
