Don't know if the operating system on the 1450 is the same as my 7-series nuvi - but this is worth a try:

After the route is imported, I go to MY DATA on the menu screen, select, select the route, and import. Then go back to the previous screen and go to ROUTES. Select the route, and you should be good to go.

On mine, if I set LOCATIONS, the route to each location is stored separately. I usually change locations to WAYPOINTS (right click on location / select change to waypoint) and then my entire route is in one file.

Please let us know if you are successful using RIde Planner with the 1450. I've been trying to determine for sure which models I can import routes to using the HD program. For now, I just picked up another 7-series off of eBay.

Default downloading it into the NUVI

Thank you but I believe the issue was with downloading it into the NUVI. It would not go into the NUVI.

Worked Like a charm!!!

I just did a test around my neighborhood with about a dozen waypoints.

Seems that there needs to be at least 2 locations, (a start point and an end point). Then as many waypoints as you'd like in between.

Now I can plot out my covered bridges ride!! 99 miles through scenic Bucks County PA!!

Thanks so much for your help FLHX!!!

Couple of things I've noticed while trying to convert my locations to waypoints.

A) HD Ride Planner is trying to change my route.

b) I lose the ability to see the specific address of my waypoint, (which used to be a location).

C) The map no longer shows the name of my waypoint, (former location), which means that the GPS wont announce it by name. (Not really such a big deal, but nice to have.)

Are my issues possibly related to the fact that I'm using what is essentially a car GPS instead of a (much more expensive) bike GPS?

Thanks for any help!!

Every time I consider upgrading from my Garmin NUVI 260 I get cold feet, figuring that the minute I do, someone will tell me about the next great thing that I missed out on. I'm hoping there's an app for my iPhone that has the ability to import maps created on my computer. At that point I'll just need to figure out the best way to hear the turn by turn commands as the screen of the iPhone is just too damn small to see while riding. Any suggestions?

I have a new Garmin 1450 that I will try to download on tomorrow from the HD RidePlanner. I was able to download a ride plan to my garmin 60csx without any problem. the ride planner recognized my garmin and when I hit export it loaded the trip immediately.

I use the Nuvi 3790 and I tried to download to my GPS, all looked good. Read the Trip Planner spec over and over dint understand why it would not work. Could not find my routes. Gave up figured it was only the H-D gps. Well this thread sparked my interest again and thanks for the information. I have learned that I must first insert a MicroSD card for additional data to be stored and how to retreve it to use it. Only routes built on the GPS is stored on the internal memory and routes from the computer are stored on the MicroSD card. Thanks again

If using an iPhone as a GPS its using the cell as its source. Good if your in a city. When you get out in the country you will loose your signal and will not come back until you get within phone service again. A GPS works off of 24 satalites and the GPS only needs to see 3 to work properly.
