Default Zumo and Ride Planner

Okay what am I missing as far as getting rides from the ride planner downloaded into my Garmin zumo 595? I tried the POI loader and then tried just hooking the zumo up to the pc and dropping the file in there. Do you guys use a separate third party program for this or am I missing something from Garmin. I thought the newer zumos were more user friendly with regards to downloading rides into them.

Hummm...didn't know you could even do that? (HD Rider Planner > Garmen Zumo). But then again I download my routes from the HD Ride Planner to the Boom Box as the system was designed to do. Perhaps you're doing something the Garmin or the Ride Planner aren't supposed to do....not sure. Sorry.

When I started using a zumo I found all the information I needed at zumoforums.com. Never used the ride planner.

I just download the GPX file from Ride Planner to my desktop in a folder that I save all my routes too, and then plug in and open up the gps and put it in the GPX folder on the gps. I use a Garmin Nuvi, but as far as I know it's no different than a Zumo as far as loading routes.

this may be old hat for some, but i just learned this recently. if you use google maps to create your route, you can then go to this website, gps visualizer (http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert...ert_format=gpx) input the url to the route you created and convert it to a downloadable gpx file which you can then upload it to your gps.

super simple, and quick.

here's a video on how to do it:

I have a Zumo and it is the same. Used to be able to connect the Zumo and download the route directly. Garmin quit supporting that so now you nave to save the GPX file and then load it into the Zumo as stated above.

HD Ride Planner creates GPX files that just about any GPS unit can use. It isn't just a HD Boom thing.

That is how I get my routes to my stand alone Garmin that I use in my truck.
I can put the same exact file on a USB stick to import into the Boom systems, or copy it to the Garmin if I need the route in my truck.

Default Zumo Imput

Well Garmin bought out DeLorme so now you can use (have to) Base Camp. It also works with the 6.5 Boombox...

Doesn't look like the zumo forums are in business. Arkie Biker stated he was looking for a buyer and if one couldn't be found, the website would cease to exist. Right now, all you get is a 404 error message.

Hey thanks everyone for the help. In the end I just downloaded the trip to my pc and then put the trip into the GPX folder as stated above. I am learning a few things and thought I would share a few however. If you use a SD card for extra storage you can create a GPX folder there as well to keep more trips. Also, in other videos I recently saw people stated you needed to add a lot of waypoints and stops on your trip for the GPS to work correctly. If you want a nice clean start and finish route though just enter your start and finish on the trip planner and that is it. I think the newer GPS work better with the Harley trip planner. I am still toying around with it but it seems to work pretty well now that I found the correct folder to put the route into. Thanks for everyone's help.
