To start off-Traded sporty in on a 07 FLHTC 4-16-11. Getting used to the handling, practicing slow turns, braking, all the normal stuff to get the feel of the new scoot. Alls well till sat. morning.
4-30-11-Just got on road after visiting aunt and uncle at nursing home. Barely going 30 mph, saw a car waiting to make a left turn from a left turn lane. I moved to my right so he would more than likely see me and proceded to take action. Didn't even have time to take action, This SOB made the fastest U-turn I've ever seen someone take. He invaded my lane of travel and hit me with his front rt. fender.
One minute I'm remembering contact, the next minute I'm laying on the ground in front of my scoot.
I read my Bible about how Jesus gave back the sight of a blind man, Well he did just that to the man who hit me. It was a young man, came up to me and said"I DIDN'T SEE YOU" I said "AND YOU SEE ME NOW?"
5-8-11- Still don't know who hit me-haven't seen a police report yet(Takes City or Arlington 1to 1.5 weeks to get the police report filed). My scoots probally going to be totaled which might be just enuff to pay off note. I'm due for surgery on thur. to put pins in left ankle.
I was really lucky because that was all the injuries I sustained-Busted ankle, Top of left foot sliced and diced, Took the poor guy 45 minutes to sew it back up, Scrapes and bruises, 6 to 8 weeks off work, No scoot ,but at least it will be paid for.
Maybe this will be a better week, with better news. At least the wife has a accident policy on both of us through Aflac and I have a short term disibilty policy on me through Aflac. I do still have the wifes sporty to ride.
Yeah, bad week for sure. Glad you will be OK. It boggles the mind what people will do while driving. Odds are the cager was on the cell phone when he took you out. Get well soon. Better times are ahead.
Sorry to hear of your crappy week. Just aint right. On the lighter side...ya ride your wifes sportie enough, you just might develope a hankering to sit down to pee. Mend well and fast and good luck on finding a new bike
Lawyer up! Wife & I had a bad wreck last year, & the lawyer got us BIG money. Enough to purchase a new trike, 2 new cars, & still sittin on a pile of cash. Short term disability policy paid my wages on top of my regular paycheck while we were out on leave. Insurance paid the medical bills.
Thanks for the support. I'll just have to see what happens this week. My Ins. told me most likely will total my bike, and offer it back to me, but at what price I don't know. Damage to bike without seeing Harleys estimate-Tour pack,Tour pack quick release, rt. saddle bag and guard, engine guard, horn, foot boards and brackets, outer fairing and inner, front fender, small dent in tank, couple of small tears in seat and back rest, and last but not least was when horn got shoved into cylinders was some cosmetic damage to cooling fins.
If I do buy it back at least it will be paid for and I can piece it back.
I've considered sueing, but I think I'll be gambling, I sue, I pay lawer fees, I win, I find out the guy that has to pay hasn't even got a pot to **** in.
