The poll was such a simple question but so much has been drawn into it.
If I look closer to "why" I posted the poll or "what" the difference is (riding with or without a chick), it has little to nothing to do with many of the comments above and/or assumptions ppl are making.
Talking for only myself (and the ones who would admit it), when guys hang out, there is a guy bonding or a camaraderie or something that happens there between the guys which is a good feeling. When you toss in a chick, that bonding or camaradaerie is no longer there.
Recently I decided not to go on a group ride (guys only) and it was a chick that I work with (not me but her) that brought up won't I miss the guy bonding stuff. Interesting.
Rhetorically speaking, I wonder, if a bunch of chicks (what would that be a gaggle? Just kidding....) what if a bunch of chicks got together and then u tossed in a guy. Would that "girl talk" the same way?
Yeah....So, anyway, I rode down to Crystal River HD today. Pefect weather, about 200 miles round trip, all out in the country, 41 MPG, new mufflers sound good, a little quieter than the old ones, I can hear the gear driven cams whirring around now, my "old" '05 is running great!
Rdam, I know this is a little off topic but what speed and approx. temperature where you riding when u got 41 mpg?
I ask since I have been paying more attention to my mileage. I have an '09 ultr classic and am finding, then it is in the 30's and I ride abt 70-75mpg I get 42 mpg. When I ride, well, north of 85 mpg and it is abt 90 degrees out, I get abt 32 mpg or less.
The above is a big difference when u r trying to cover abt 750 miles in a day. Stopping to refuel is a waste of time.
What I did learn is, if u go the speed limit or 5 mpg above it, you save $$, (of course safer), a more enjoyable ride when u go slower (If I can get myself my brains to slow down) and you really get to your destination a little later. Too small a time difference to really make any big difference. So I should just go slower.

So this says nothing to you like, "hey, this guy is just a little too much into bonding with the guys"? I just don't hear many straight guys talking about how much they miss "bonding with the guys." Do you and these guys share grooming tips and talk about your feelings a lot?

Actually, the ONLY person I ride with is my GF. She rides her own RoadKing.
I will, however, ride with anyone, male or female,Harley or rice. The only exception is I will NOT ride with sportbike riders. I ride to relax, not to "get there in a hurry". "Course the opportunity never really presented itself.
In reference to the OP's original question, here's an example of what I think he was trying to say about the "dynamic". A while back, my buddy & I were hangin' at some biker function, and I dropped the "S" bomb. Not even the most vulgar of cusswords, but a cussword nonetheless. He jumped on my *** & said "Hey man, show some respect. There's women here". Now, my reply to him was. "If women are hanging around in a group (the Harley scene) that has been traditionally & historically a male dominated scene, then they are gonna hafta deal with "male" type talk. I am NOT gonna clean up my toilet mouth or sex talk because a few women might find it offensive"! And usually they don't. They usually have no trouble being one of the guys. Hell, my GF is the biggest toilet mouth of them all--a helluva lot worse than me & I'M really bad! (The only exception I make is if there are kids there. But then again, I don't feel kids belong at bike functions. Leave them for family picnics & cookouts) As long as you don't have to change your behavior 'cause there are women there, then the "dynamic" won't change. And most of the women I know that ride seem to prefer it that way!
