Default How much would you spend for complete bike detail?

Hey guys and gals. I'm one of thise folks that loves to clean and polish on bikes and cars. Recently I was asked by a local RV Dealer to detail an IronHorse chopper they took in on trade. It was really rough and actually I though a lot of the chrome and polished parts may have already been damaged but with about six hours of elbow grease it looked like a brand new bike.

I really enjoyed doing it and they paid me $150.00. Yesterday I was talking with a local Indy shop and told the owner I did this and he said I did it too cheap and asked if I would do some work for him.

This got me to thinking about taking this to the next level as a business and my questions to you folks are;

1) Do you ever have anyone to detail your bike?

2) Is your bike a little more dirty than you like but you simply don't have the time to clean it?

3) What would you pay for a 100% complete detail on your bike including degreasing, polish chrome and aluminum, wax and seal paint and dress seat and tires?

4) Would pick up and delivery in an enclosed trailer make a difference?

I appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Thanks
Mark

P.S.

Here are a few pictures of the IronHorse after it was done. I should have taken before pictures.

I definitely wouldn't pay to have my bike detailed. I detailed it myself, once, just to do it. Within two days it was filthy again. If I had a trailer queen/full blown one-off-custom, maybe. For a commuter that is ridden in the rain on the regular? Nope.

However, if I was going to detail someone else's bike, I'm thinking $150-$200 would be about right. $250+ if pick up and delivery were involved.

Depends if this is a side line for you or your main income. I guess Id pay around $25bucks a hour. If your going to do pick up and stuff like that I would get Insurance.

Depends on what all they did. If they managed to get my engine and rocker covers clean, as well as buffed everything I'd pay 150-250.

I can get my car done for $80 (here in the midwest) I would expect a bike to be cheaper.

The horse does look good!

1) Yes I sometimes have a detail done if I've gone to a rally or ridden in the rain for a while and it's completely dirty

2) Both, but mostly time.

3) I probably would pay $150, but I have a local (Jax, FL) consignment guy that in his spare time will do a full engine degrease, wash, polish, buff, etc. for $60. Does it mostly for advertising and word of mouth advertising for detail and consignment business.

4) Pick up/delivery would help, but I wouldn't spend more than $10 more for it.

100-150 seems fair depending on how much is being done and if youre going to the bike or if they bring to you

I'd never pay someone to detail my bike. I enjoy doing it myself.
