Default How many people warm up bike before taking off??

I often find myself sneaking out on the bike when the kids are sleeping. Usually I just push to the end of the driveway and while coasting I start up and go... Trying to make the least amount of noise so I don't wake the kids...

How bad is this for my bike. It's an 07 so it's FI if that makes a difference...

I turn the key on, hit the start button and take off like Oprah to Krispy Kreme... well not exactly like she does, I don't hit the rev limiter or anything.

Ha! A lot of times early in the morning I'll ease out on the bike while the kids are asleep. I back it out of the basement garage though, and hit the start button when it clears the door. I get off, close the garage door, and put on my helmet before I leave. I figure that little bit of time gets the oil circulating. Then I putt putt out of the drive and up to the top of the hill before I really give it any throttle.

as long as you wait till you get down the road a few miles before hitting it hard it won't be a problem, it can warm up as you ride it.

Twin Cam motors expand 200 thousandths of an inch ( .20" ) between hot and cold. They're aluminum. If you want good pressure on your head gaskets, at least take it easy til it's fully warmed up.

Fuel injection just makes it easier to screw up your bike if you don't.

From what I've read and also applying my own limited knowledge I expect the oil has circulated, re-coated, and is fully protecting your engine in less than 30 seconds. I'd still wait until it's at operating temps before nailing it wide-open. I leave the house at 530am so I bump the starter and immediately idle on out of the neighborhood. By the time I pull out onto the main road its warm.

I push mine out of the garage. Then I start it, close the garage door and go. It warms up as I ride it
