Default Dropped The Dealer's Bike

I test rode a 2009 Road King on Saturday that I'm about 2 inches too short for. I couldn't flatfoot it, but I rode anyways, trying to be really cognizant of my footing. When I brought the bike back, I was power-walking it into their maintenance bay and the ground disappeared when the front tire went up the ramp. I couldn't reach the ground on both sides and the bike tipped to the left. I tried to muscle it, but had to set it down as gently as I could on the engine guards. The maintenance guys ran out and helped me get it back up, but my ego had taken a huge hit.

It sucks to put a bike down, but even more when it's not your bike. Live & learn I guess.

Chit i would had done either one of two things... one tell the dealer i had to buy the bike then, or run like a scared little girl out of the dealer and never show my face again....

Meh... whatta ya gonna do? I'm sure it's not the first time it has happened.

I have to say, I'm a little surprised that the dealer let you take out a bike that was too big for you. Did they check you out on it before hand - you know, just to make sure that you knew where everything was and that you could reach the ground, etc.?

The salesman ran through the locations of the controls, but never checked the height of the bike. I knew I was slightly too short for it, but I was only going for a 20-minute jaunt, so didn't think it would become an issue. Once again, my new-ness proves to be my downfall...

So were your legs longer when you first sat on it?
