Been using the HJC Symax II for a few weeks and got the opportunity to really appreciate the drop down visor last Sunday morning on an early morning ride heading directly East into the Sunrise.
It was early enough(7am) that I didn't need dark sunglasses yet, the main visor is clear, and it was nice to drop down the moderately tinted gold internal visor to cut the heavy early sunrise glare and still allow me to see the road well.
With the newer models, the visor comes down far enough now to fully cover your field of vision. The tint typically is dark enough to cut the glare, but may not be dark enough for some to replace their dark sunglasses in very bright conditions.
The only negative I've noticed is that the internal shield "slightly" fogged on the inside surface when the main shield is down even at higher speeds as air flow doesn't hit it as well as the main shield with it being up high I guess. I just cracked the visor and it cleared, maybe its just due to the higher humidity down here. It's supposed to be anti fog coated and for the most part was, just a slight noticeable haze a couple of times while riding, nothing to impair visibility really.
This past Fri. I renewed my license and I am now restricted to wearing my glasses so I got the HJC IS-2 haft helmet with the pull down shield and I really like it! It comes with the smoke sheild but I replaced it with a clear 1 and use a clip on sunglass cover my eye glasses! I had the Scorpion EXO-100 and didn't like but I like the HJC! Got the helmet and shield for just over a $100 from the helmet shop! http://www.helmetshop.com/category/HJ50/HJC-IS-2/1.html
I have the Shark Evoline Series 2. The sun visor works well except when the sun is directly overhead... the console on my King reflects sunlight up under the visor. Have to hold my head at a slight forward tilt.
I'm looking to add a half-helmet and the HJC IS-2 and EXO-100 look like good candidates.
I've been using a Scorpion EXO 100 for about a year now and have been pleased with the comfort and features. I also have found the visor feature to be very handy and use it often.
I will throw in another "yea" vote for the Scorpion EXO-100.
I just bought the HD half helmet with the drop down ( built by HJC I think) and it works great with sunglasses . The only thing I don't like is that it has no vents and in the sunny south (97 here today) it is one hot helmet.
Bought the HD helmet with drop down visor, stock number 98212-10vm, it is a half helmet. I have issues with wind in my eyes causing tearing. This helmet was the right choice for me. The only draw back is the visor just touches my nose, sometimes. The tint is just right for early sun/late sun.

I made the mistake of buying it for my wife when she was not with me. It's a medium, she normally wears a medium but these seem to run a little on the large side and it didn't fit her. We took it back the very next day and they wouldnt even exchange it, much less refund it. That was at Fullerton HD, they claim that its their policy that when a helmet leaves the store, it dont come back .period. They wouldnt even give us a discount if we were to buy another one. I will never do business with them again as a result. Their loss, I ended up spending thousands at one of their competitors.
So it got stuck in a box and put on the shelf, still have all the attached paperwork. If anyone is interested, let me know, Ill take a reasonable offer.
