Well, I jsut checked HDtrader.com, and cycle trader, and found a lot of sporty's for a lot less green all with low mileage. Most of them even had the fatbob tank. So it loks like this week is dedicated to looking at bikes. God I love my life....
The 4.5 gallon tank was introduced in 2004 on the Custom Sportsters, 883 and 1200. I can't believe the salesman didn't know that, well yea I guess I can believe it.
Ihe price OTD sounds pretty fair to me. Being a 1200 custom you get rubber mount, black and chrome motor, and performance heads came stock. They will surprise a lot of people how strong they run. Before I bought my springer I bought 05 1200 custom, stage one set up. Great scoot but I'm a large guy and it was a bit small for my wife and I. If your wife likes it you might want to check it out again. Good luck.
2007 1200C with color option is 9,955, Calif. emmissions is 100, freight is 260, setup should be around 350 for a total of 10,665 for a new one.
NADA for a 2006 is 8,990.
With only 750 miles on it, I would say that the price is definately reasonable, and for the near 2,000 you would save, you could get her a windshield, saddle bags and some other goodies.
Good luck in your search, and congratulations on aquiring your best friend as a riding partner.
I agree with Bill. Everyone always forgets about all the extra cost that goes on top of the new bike sticker price. The '06 is the price plus tax. Plus I am sure the last owner added at least one or two pieces of chrome to increase the value. Sounds like a good deal to me. Hell if you buy the new one you will pay $2000 more and have 750 miles on it by next weekend!
If she likes it then who the heck cares what the price is?? Don't try to live for your second bike (or third, 4th etc etc) get her the bike. Before she changes her mind!
there is a member here (UNAMED i believe) who started a thread titled 'i shouldve listened'... in his sig, he shows a nice sporty that it sounds like he may be looking to sell.
check it out.
oh- and i require a nominal 'finders fee' from both parties [sm=icon_ladiesman.gif]
