Paint/Chrome Protection Tape/Film

Has anyone located a source where to purchase the paint protection tape that is on some bikes from the factory? My seat is wearing the paint off the fuel tank and other areas are affected too.. Just bought a crotch cooler from Captn Itch and it lays right on top of the side covers, which will eventually do permanent damage. Here is a source I found from another forum

You should try and get the bottom done like le peras, the bottoms are felt.

Thinking just call Ur local auto part store or auto repair place, There's all kinds of vinyl tapes this days. Maybe some one close to U does custom work.

Chief. Advanced Auto Trim uses a clear 3M tape for that. He's an indy auto striper and molding guy. He's located in Escondido if you want his number let me know. It's being used in place of the old plastic bug guards on many high end vehicles and motor homes.

where i work we have a guy who installs the 3M film on frt ends.. it does what it says, but if there are any paint flaws it will magnify it. you also have to have the patience of a saint to get that stuff on anything other then a flat surface..

he gave me a piece to try and put on my frt tin.. the operable word here is TRY.. too many complex curves on a bike tin..

he has a cutter machine and program that you just put in the yr and make of car and it cuts the piece out with all the necessary pie cuts and slits to make it work over curves..
