Default To Park In The Shade Or Not

Ok so I thought Its was getting hot out there in the sun. And I would start parking my bike under a nice shady tree everyday when I got to work. Thinking this would keep the paint from fading and the seat from drying out. Well at the end of the day the bike was nice and cool. And covered in bird **** too!

Don't forget about tree sap. That being said, I pull great maintenance on my bike but rarely clean it.

I always prefer shade...a litte tree sap or some bird **** will come right off. I'd rather keep the bike cool when I'm not on it, than let it bake at 88 degrees for 8 hours.

Shade. Fortunately, I have shade all day from the building in the winter and one of those trees that birds don't like in the summer...'course there are no birds here in the summer, they all fly north. My silver speedometer has turned yellow just from riding in the sun and from being parked when I couldn't find shade while out and about.

I feel similar, nothing can withstand the sun or salt! however, would not subject my bike to constant barrage of bird crap either.

Depends on what is providing the shade....I try to keep her in the shade when making stops out on a ride. Never under pine tress...brutal sap that will take the paint off with it. Low trees...chances are it will acquire more bird crap. High trees...I tend to go for.

However, if I'm near the shore..like within a block of the river or ocean, I'll go for under anything...because the high flying gulls and herons will leave a crap the size of the gallon of spilt milk all across your bike if you park out in the open, and that stuff is just NASTY to clean up before hoppin' on.
