I tried to search but the possibiities are almost endless.
Anyways I was reading about Redline V-twin transmission fluid and I would like to try it, but the unfortunate part is the only dealers that stock it are a good way away. I would mail order it but I really want to take care of it now since I am doing some other maintenance.
Is ther an alternative to Redline with shock reduction that works as well? Preferably something more common.
Also I am changing my primary while working on it and was looking for opinions on that fluid as well. I am currently runnig HD stuff but would rather use something else if it is better.

Did you check online for participating dealers, or at least call around to some auto/motorcycle supply stores? Unless you live out in BFE, Redline is pretty common...at least it is out here in CA.
Redline also markets a specific primary oil for Harleys.
As for alternatives to Redline, the list is long: Amsoil, Spectro 6, Royal Purple, Bel Rey, and the list goes on and on.

Formula+ works just as good as anything else in the primary and I personally don't see the point in using something different, you won't be gaining anything. JMO
+1 on Formula + in the primary. Try a good quality gear oil in the tranny, either a 75W/90 or a 85W/140 depending upon how much noise you have from your gears.
As you probably already know there are a lot of choices as there are a lot of opinions on what's best.Today there area lot of great choices mine is Amsoil, just use the correct products for each hole, you can't go wrong.
Formula + or Mobil1Vtwin 10w40 in the primary and any 85w140 gear oil in the trans. Most dealers carry BelRay Gear Saver 85w140 which is pretty good or just go to autozone and get Mobil1 85w140. If you don't have a dealer nearby then go to autozone and get Mobil1Vtwin 20w50 for the engine, Vtwin 10w40 for the primary and 85w140 gear oil for the trans and you will be fine.
i use amsoil in the primary and engine and redline in the tranny. redline is good because if you have a leak you'll know where it's coming from. it's tough to see the tranny plug if it's leaking.

I appreciate any responses.
Try racer parts wholesale on line. They have a Redline package that includes all the fluids, a funnel, and a ball cap. The price is reasonable and it will be at your door in a couple days. i ahave used them for the last year and really like the product
Good luck.

I bit the bullet and drove into Houston today and bought Redline. I did the shock proof for the trans and the Redline V-twin primary oil.
The trans oil was really thick and looked awful, now the primary Redline oil looked really thin, so I am second guessing that one.
I will run it for a few days and see what I think. I may swap the primary back to formula if I have any concerns. Oil is cheap and parts are not, so time will tell.
