It was in '99 or 2000. My chapter got a shiny new clubhouse, and wouldn't you know? the french feds showed up the week after we opened it. Now, we're not talking united states here, when the french federal investigators want to see your clubhouse, they just come in. No warrant or stuff like that. So, they stroll around, looking here, looking there. After a while, they headed to the door, obviously disapointed. One of those clowns looks at us and says "we'll be back". My big mouth has alwas been my problem, so I just replied "give me a heads up a few hours before you come, I'll bake you a cake."
24 hours and a few bruises later, I was back at the clubhouse.
In my 40 years of riding I've been to over a dozen Harley Rendevous and a movie premier for a local MC here in NY. I've attended one or two of their block parties and a few of their funerals. I know I've been filmed and photographed at each and every one of these events but have never been approached by anyone on any occasion and asked about being a "known Associate". Fact is I've never been a member of an MC. My choice, I don't take orders well so I don't think I could have been a good prospect. Remember at these type of events... just cause you can't see them doesn't mean a leo isn't standing right beside you. What better way to keep an eye on things than to be mingling in the crowd.. similarly dressed? It's not the leo with the jacket with POLICE on the back that you have to worry about. It's the ones without the jackets you need to be mindful of.

Trust very few people. Never trust someone you haven't known for years. Depend on only a very select few. If they will not donate you a kidney or procure you a kidney----they are just an acquaintance.

the worst thing is that in this economy, its the waist of tax dollars. I was at a party and the state and county showed up with a helicopter circling with a search light for over an hour. figure in the air time for the helicopter, the overtime and pay.
we had to lie face down with palms up while waiting to be processed one by one with photos of front and back. bike plates were photographed and just to show it was nothing but harassment, all weapons confiscated during a search were left at the clubhouse to be given back out to the owners if they were legal.
video of all bikes entering and photo with telephoto prior to. most of the LEO had M16s with safety off and finger on triggers. they got pissed when this was pointed out to them.
this is nothing new if youre a biker. freedom is always gonna be challenged.
until recently there was a grey area in the law that allowed LEO to seize all money raised at a poker run.
Legalize freedom
Bikers are pretty much the only ones left that will stand up for their freedom and personal liberties. So the govt is trying to keep tabs on all of us, cause the way things are going were headed for a revolution in this country.

That would be Norma "Da'Lady" Chavez of El Paso. A great advocate for biker rights. We in Texas owe her a lot of our respect. Norma authored more than 50 bills and co sponsored hundreds of others, many of which were biker rights specific. Da'Lady also opened each Legislative Day with proclamations on the Senate and House floors recognizing the various MROs in attendance. I think she rode in a legislator's only club called the Lawmakers MC. I can remember sitting in on several of her "how to talk to a politician sessions". Yes she often repeated that statement, even on the steps of the Texas capitol to kick off Legislative Day (2005?). To my knowledge she is no longer in politics.
I had heard she lost last years elections down there. I was glad to still see her at Legislative day this year at the Capital. Is she still Legislative Liason for TMRA2?
