wrecked knee and bike, posted parts needed to get back on the road. pls help!
so I went down tonight, got my knee busted open, I was sitting on the road waiting for the ambulance to arrive, and all I saw was the white stuff in the wound.
Anyway, I didn't have anyone to pick me up at that point in time, so I went with the ambulance to the hospital to get checked on and stitched up.
Highway patrol came, and towed the bike away. They visited me at the hospital and gave me the card of the tow company.
I called em and they said that it's gonna cost me 285 plus tax to get my bike.
I can't afford it :S is there anyway I can get my bike back? I heard that if you don't get it after a couple of days, they sell it to cover the cost.
Just totally stressed out, but i'm fine. Got crutches to hobble around now, and stithces come off in 10 days.

So as to the advice of some of the forumers here, I've come up with a list of parts to get the bike back up after I'm all healed up myself. I'm not expecting anything from anyone, but if you guys have a piece of what I need lying around that you probably won't use in a long time, pls send them my way, I will be really grateful for that.
Thanks again for ALL the help and encouragement that has been sent my way, you guys really embody kindness not just as bikers but as people and friends.
Shoulda made arrangements on your own before you left. Probably would have been $100 or less.
Towing doesn't cost that much when you're a customer (to the toe company). It's when the provide the service to the people towing you that you get raked over the coals (ie the state police, apt complex, etc).
As others have stated, insurance will pay, if you have it. Also, they won't sell your bike, not anytime soon at least. They will however, charge you $25-$50 per day storage.
As hard as it is to be polite and nice when they are raping you with storage fees, they will usually work with you if you are civil with them during negotiations.

Sorry about your injuries, Tow co. might work with you, but I doubt it, their out to make a buck also.
I was took out by a car back in April and bike was tow by a co. that has a contract with Arlington PD. The towing under contract with city was 385.00. Had the bike towed from impound to dealer 2 days later, only 80.00. Total bill was 465.00.
I was glad I had towing as part of my insurance policy, got that back as well as the bike being totaled.
