Chaps are pretty much unbeatable when herding cattle. They protect your legs from brush and the herd. A lot of motorcyclists wear them, but they are a distant second to leather over-pants at keeping your nuts warm and dry.

I only have the toe-less ones, they allow my feet to breath better, and they are more affordable.
