I wear them for one reason. Protection. A friend is an ER nurse and she said picking denim out of road-rashed flesh is a bitch and infection becomes an issue. The other main reason is so that if I go down in the summer with just a T-shirt (I know, I know, leave me alone) there is some un-abraided skin to do grafts from. But since my (s)haps are ***-less my lily white butt won't end up on my face.

P.S.: Also good for bachelorette parties.

I ride 85 miles one way to work, 3x a month. I don't have time to wash clothes when I get there. With my new bike, with lowers, not a problem. It was a factor with previous bike though. And you're not my type by the way!

Wear them when it's cold, or on cool nights. Anyone who thinks they are gay is insecure with their manhood. And / or they are fair weather riders to begin with and probably think a 100 mile round trip is a looooong ride, the same people who put on a whopping 3000k a year.
