They'd have make a Springer front end themselves. If sales were tricky before, imagine how well it would go over when we find out the bike's signature component isn't even made by Harley...

I've had two of em. They are without equal but expensive to build. The aftermarket springers do not compare in any way especially appearance. The Harley springer drips class because it is built the old fashioned way with care to proper fit and appearance.

I would love to get a springer as a second bike used of course.

Touring-shmouring. I "tour" plenty with mine. Fabbed a couple of Road King Classic bags to mount with Edge brackets and slap a Kuryakin GranTour on the pillion when I need it. Then again, don't you think the MoCo is thinking along similar lines with the Dyna Switchback?

Overall, I still like the factory Harley Springer front end better than any of the aftermarket versions I've seen. The only other US company I know of that built a quality motorcycle with a springer front end in recent decades was Excelsior-Henderson.

2012 seems to be shaking out to be a dud year for selection, anyway. Available paint for all models is pretty skimpy. I think they've just got a lot of 2011's they still need to sell, production costs and numbers took a sharp cut and they're banking on the 103 engine to carry the sales volume through the election year. So many dealerships closed their doors last year, they don't want to flood what's left with inventory they can't move.

It's not that people don't like them. I get compliments all the time - from people that ride Ultras! Those who have the ching just opt for practicality over looks at the final sale, (which means good looking hard bags and fairings). When the MoCo went from Heritage Springer to Springer Classic to Crossbones, they were going the wrong direction by trying to appeal to the nostalgic/barhopper market alone.
