Why would you use it only to make yer food go up in price, not to mention the cattle, chicken and pig feed. ETC.
This was a STUPID thing to ever do.

poorer gas mileage alone is a good reason to dislike ethanol

Having a friend in the bulk fuel tank installation business, I can tell you with out a doubt that I avoid ethanol like the plague. He stays busy going from station to station pumping tanks. The main problem is called phase seperation. You never know when you will be the unlucky customer that gets the bad fuel.

A few fun facts

It takes 15-30% more so yes it gets worse Milage
It's 100 octane so it makes more power around 10% more.
It absorbs water slowly I've let it sit out for 6 months no problem.
It runs up to 20 degrees cooler.
The corn is feedstock not human food.

I'm not a tree hugger I just like it cause it is some great cheap race fuel.
I've tested it myself first hand experience it's not as bad as everybody thinks it is.

The 10% is not correct. Its actually from 12to 17%,
And if you have a open system like a boat, and the wind blows it collects a lot more water than you realize.
Race fuel is a lot different than the Ethanol we use. And its a different color.
The race fuel I used to use had Lead in it.
I would like to see it gone.
Drill more oil and build more refineries in the U.S.
There is pleny of oil out there.
More than you could ever realize.

So you guys actually think that higher octane = more power?????? I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with power. More like timing and point of combustion. To me it is simple..... They are adding something to the fuel that decreases gas mileage. Our gasoline burning engines were not designed for it. So why use it if it's avoidable????

Would anyone given the choice of both at one pump choose to use the ethanol????? I certainly wouldn't. Even in my truck it's anywhere from a 2-5 mpg difference between the two. When you put 20k + miles on each vehicle a year that is a huge difference.

Think of it like this too.

Our goverment is mandating that vehicles git better fuel milage.
So the tree huggers git a reformulated fuel bill passes, which has Ethanol and gits less fuel milage. How did that help us.
WE now have fuel that gives us less while we pay more.
Stupid thing to do and we are being brain washed about it.

And to add to the rest of the con arguments........... I read study a few years back that determined it took 1.3 gallons of petroleum to manufacture 1 gallon of ethanol. It accounted for things in the production such as the fuel the farmers burns preparing the fields, planting, harvesting, and getting the crop to market. The petroleum used to make the herbicides, the plastic jugs for the herbicide, the plastic parts and rubber tires on the farm equipment, and a myriad of other things.

Renewable fuel??? I think not!

I buy ethanol free fuel at the marina. Boats sit a lot and ethanol ruins the fuel delivery system. We need a choice at the gas station!!
