T (my son) rides a 1981 Honda XL185 (he's 16) but it's not big enough to hit the road. He has a job, now, so when he asked to rent the Nighthawk from the local metric indy shop I told him I'd sign the papers if he wanted to pay for it.
It was his first time on the highway on "his own" bike ... and he's thoroughly hooked.
If you ever get a chance to ride up HWY 190 in West Georgia through Pine Mountain/FDR State Park... it's worth the time!
That's cool, looks like he was having a good time! My boy just turned 16 and has been riding bikes and quads since he was 8 and keeps asking me about taking out the dyna, but I think it'll be awhile before that happens, lol!
That's awesome. I was about to start a post telling about my day today with my 8 year old son. He has become my constant co-pilot this summer. My sig pic was taken a couple of weeks ago. We did a couple of hundred miles today and he loved it. As we were nearing home, my thoughts wandered to imagining a day when we will be able to do what you and your son have done. I will share your pics with him. Thanks.
Thanks for the comments. He would love to ride the Dyna, but we've agreed that it's MY bike, and if he wants a Harley, he can buy one for himself. His mother and I have agreed that he can buy a bike when he's 18, or living on (and paying for) his own, whichever comes first.
He doesn't know it, but his mom and I have also agreed to go 50/50 on his first bike, so he may be on a Harley quicker than he (or I) thinks.
My son just got his Harley this year. He's in the Navy and was home on leave and decided it was time to get one. Once the ink barely was dry we were out and about cruising. Greatest time of my life! He had it shipped back to Ct where he is based now, but wants to do a fly and ride on his next leave. Can't wait! Father and son time is precious, enjoy every minute of it.
