Default DIY maintenance ??

For those that do their own work, do you go to the HD parts counter and get your fluids and filters or go to the auto parts store?? I have a 20K coming up in a month or 2. I think its tranny, primary, engine oil and filter, etc...

Parts store.

Mobil 1 20W-50 V-Twin is on sale a couple times a year for $7.50 and a Wix filter costs $10.00

I've found throughout that the service agents at the Auto-parts store are fairly more knowledgeable & helpful than the service counter at the dealership. I usually go to the same one, Auto-parts store, but I live in a pretty small, bigger town & the same reps usually keep their jobs longer & attempt to keep it personal.

I'd like to see more people taking their bikes into their own hands , maybe the MoCo will wake up and realize the buying public has enough price gouging and get real about like the rest of the world is coming to grips with .

What's the avg price per hour at a dealer car/truck service center?
HD is in line with those who take their vehicles in instead of doing it themselves.

You'll save quite a bit over the life of the bike doing it yourself.

Plugs, wires and oil filter = yes.
Fluids = no.
I have a few places near by that are Amsoil dealers around me, I go to them for fluids.

Just did an oil change on mine recently. Got the filter and o-ring at the dealer, the Mobil 1 v-twin at Walmart and filter wrench at the auto parts store.
