Whatever you settle with make sure you put a dab of silicon on the backs of all junk metal run pins and **** you'll hang on the front so they won't punch holes in your chest when somebody comes up and slaps them clowning you , real noob move not too and you'll bleed all over the cool light colored moco tee shirt you'll be wearing when it happens.
Someone said this but it bears repeating. Buy a vest you like, one with good quality leather, and have it altered to fit you - when you are sitting down. A good tailor that works with leather is a little hard to find, but ask around at bike shops, or if you're a geek like me, google leather tailor
Speaking of vests, I just picked one up Friday at the local HD shop. It was on the sale rack original price around $140 marked down to $90. It has the split/laced sides and I really like it. Fits perfect and seems like a decent quality.
I might even put a couple of patches on it. Too bad I am not very good at sewing, they need to make a good iron on one that won't hurt the leather.

Hillarious! Is that the voice of experience talking?
I wear one of those. I like a vest for layering since the arm area doesn't bulk up . The tactical sytle vests are great since you can loosen of tighten the straps as needed. I pull mine tight when I get on the bike, then I pop them loose when I get off. Mine is a FIRST brand, not the ICON. (about 130 bucks cheaper ) Very happy with the fit and form.
