Lets talk about Leather Vests

I don't wear a vest, but would like to. Problem is that I'm new and don't have any patches! Is it true that the patches are to be worn because you either did something good, belong to a group? Is there any list of groups or organizations that freely give legitimate patches. Of course, I have the patch from this forum and one from the H.O.G national chapter. Not many for a nice vest. Would anyone let me join their group for a patch? I will pay a little, bit I don't want to have to do anything difficult for it. Like a 1,000 mile ride, etc. Hey I am a veteran, maybe the American Legion has one or I can get a POW/MIA patch?

I've went through 4 vests. Riding without a windshield or fairing makes a difference. I found a vest that has lapels and made of heavy leather that doesn't buffer when riding without a shield on my FXDC here's the one that worked for me, too bad it's brown but you can get black: http://coronadoleather.com/i-6507804...apel-vest.html
