I'm about to pull the trigger on an Icon Airframe full face helmet. I tried one on today and it felt GREAT!
My biggest concern is the ventilation. I need a GREAT venting helmet, and have done LOTS of research, and for the money, this thing seems to do the job quite well.. but I want to hear first hand experience. Any tips?? I live in south Florida, and it gets nasty hot here sometimes.. I need a superior venting helmet, but can't afford the price tag of some of these HIGH quality helmets.
Dude, I just bought the basic black Airframe and it rocks! Get the dark smoked visor and it's just plain bad ***. It has awesome ventilation. Vents up top, one on chin, plus two more inside by your jaw.
I ride with a windshield a lot, but still get great ventilation, without the windshield, it's great as well.
I'm in the same boat as you, I didn't want to drop $800 on a FF. The Airframe is not Icon's most expensive, but most techniclogoically advanced.

Awesome. That makes me feel a heck of a lot better. I think I may go with the airframe then. Definitely getting a smoked visor for sure!
I've watched several reviews, including that one. All of them have nothing but good things to say about them, but I just wanted first hand experience from riders on here, ya know?
One thing I noticed too, was that I've been caught out at night and didn't switch visors. Believe it or not the dark smoked visor was still damn good to see out of at night.
I never tried the airframe but being in Az I know all about needing good venting. The best thing I found was the HJC IS16 I use the inner shield in the lowest position and it's great, lets a ton of air in but covers my face enough to where I don't need to wear glasses. As an added bonus I can leave the clear outer shield on all the time and don't have to worry about switching every night.
I took my very first ride with a FF this morning (Bell Arrow). I did not want to spend a ton, as I was not sure if I could ride with one. I have to say it was not bad. I did not feel as though my vision or hearing was impaired. This helmet lets in a bit too much air under the chin but is ok for now. I think I will pop for a Bell Star or RS-1 over the winter.

You can probably get a chin curtain for it.
I have them for all my FF helmets, since I wear contacts--don't like too much breeze coming at the eyes. Helps a lot. Still just enough fresh air coming in, but not too much to annoy my eyes.

IMO, a "good venting helmet" is like asking for a sport wheelbarrow.
Never really been happy with the venting of any helmet, at least at speeds under 70mph. But that makes sense, given how helmet venting works (the aerodynamics of the helmet in the back creates a partial vacuum over the back vents which sucks air out--just won't be as effective at slower speeds.)
But I'm always on the lookout for something that does the job better. I'd love a helmet that allowed better venting when chugging along in city traffic at 30.

Do you get a lot of city traffic and hot weather up there in Edmunds and Bozeman?
