Default Anyone wear a Daytona 3/4 Open Face?

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of ordering the woman a pink open face 3/4 helmet. What do you guys think of these helmets? I've read mixed reviews. So I'd prefer to hear it directly from you guys. She wants a DOT but doesn't want that bobble head look that every helmet gives her because of her small size.. so I'm trying to find something small. Its either between this, or the Licks NovDot.

Any pictures and information would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks guys!
Adrian

The wife and I have the Biltwell novelty 3/4 helmets and we both love them. Check em out.

I have had a couple of them.. Loved them both! However, it is not DOT and probably won't do a damn thing in an accident.. =(

I have used a Daytona 3/4 DOT open faced helmet. Not bad, but it is very light. Thank God I never had to test it in a crash. Fairly comfortable even in the heat.

I have a Daytona 3/4 DOT. It doesn't fit my head very well. It's tight fore and aft, and not so snug side to side. I bought it on line and it's the last helmet I will ever buy that I can't try on beforehand.
It tends to try to lift off my head at highway speeds, although I haven't tried it since I put a windshield on my bike. The lifting shouldn't be an issue if your wife is sitting behind you. It is a light weight lid and they do have different size shells for their differend sizes. What I was most dissapointed in was the padding on the lower area of the sides is soft and offers no real function as far as protection goes. My impression is that it's a half helmet with a shell that covers the ears.

To be honest I've stopped worrying about "mushroom head" since I know I'll never look as cool as Paul Sr. or Clay from SOA.

Currently my favorite half helmet is a Zox "old school" and I'm still searching for a good 3/4. I wish I still had my old Bell Super Magnum I had back in the 70's. Maybe I'll be trying one of Bell's new 3/4 lids.

Hope this helps, YMMV

I wear a MotoFlake 3/4 metalflake and love it. I just bought the wife a Fulmer V2 3/4 in Pink metal flake and she really likes it allot. Much less wind noise in the ears than the 1/2 helmet. I looked at both the Harley and Fulmer Pink helmets and the Fulmer is right at $100 cheaper and is as nice if not nicer than the Harley one. If you can get you hands on one of those I would say go for it you won't be disappointed. Bryan

The biggest difference I noticed between my wife's Daytona and my Bell 3/4 is the brow on the Daytona is much higher. Maybe it's the way it fits, but you're going to get more bugs bouncing off your forehead in a Daytona than a Bell, Fulmer of Motoflake.
