Can anyone explain exactly how the O2 eliminators work with the Power Command III system? I'm presuming they tell the ECM it has a slightly lean mixture all the time, to get it to richen it up a bit?
Basically they are resistors that simulate a correct O2 reading. I used to make them for Mustangs, surprisingly easy. It was just a couple of resistors, some wire, and a pair of plug harnesses.
Talked to Dynojet today about this. They said without these, the ECM would keep fighting itself when trying to richen up the injection system. The oxygen sensor would tell the brain it's too rich, and it would keep trying to lean it out more, defeating the purpose of the Power Commander.
The whole question started when my Power Commander III failed, and I was wondering if I could ride without the PC in the system. The Dynojet tech said no problem, it may just lack a little power in certain ranges. Also for $25 they are going to try to fix the PC module if possible, or give me a "greatly reduced" price on a new one. Good company!
