Default Long term in a POD

Ok so I have found some good info searching, but just a few questions still. I will be storing the bike for about a year and a half or a little longer. I will be putting it in a POD storage unit so have to drain the gas, and obviously a battery tender is out of the question. The POD has tie down points inside so I can secure my crap and the bike. So just wondering what recommendations anyone has for something like this vice storing in a garage. I would get one of those cocoon type bags I've seen, but I have to strap the bike down. I'm planning on getting some wood to support the bike so it's not sitting on the tires the whole time. I'm "supposed" to drain out the oil as well, but think I may just put down some absorbent material under the bike in case of leaks. I plan on having all fluids changed before I store it, and cleaning it and waxing like recommended. Also what would you guys recommend securing the bike front to back along the wall, or side to side in the pod? I'm also toying with the idea of building a wooden frame around the bike in case anything shifts unexpectedly while it's being transported.

I would just sell it and buy another one when your ready. Seems like a pod would be expensive as all get out for that long. Maybe a Dealer could crate it up for you and store it for less.

X2 on the dealer storing it for you. Check into it.
BTW, a battery Tender is still possible. The safest way is to remove the battery, but BT does make a solar powered unit.

Well the POD is going to have my house hold goods in it as well I'm not just getting it for the bike. The POD will be stored in a warehouse so a solar powered tender is outta the question. I'll probably just take it out and give it to one of the guys I ride with. Thanks for the input. I read something about fogging the gas tank? I'm just looking to cut down as much as I can on the rust that is gonna happen.

Not sure about the Harley, but I know in our snowmobiles we used to dump in isopropyl alcohol it would take care of any water in the fuel.

What about air circulation? Seems there would be some condensation which might lead to a rust prob.

we used PODS when we moved, nothing moved we only shipped them 600 miles or so, wouldn't be any condensation because they are in a climate control buildingget a front wheel chock strap bike to it and the pod cover it with a thick moving blanket. make sure you household items are secure so that they don't fall on bike, like i said i pack up 2 of them and when i opened to unpack everything was were I placed it, just use your head when packing. I think i put bike in first the work around it. PODS work great

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about putting some wood under the frame to take weight off the wheels since the bike will be sitting for about a year and a half. If I ship the POD it will be from Hawaii back to the mainland once I get orders next year. Did you put the bikes against the back wall, or one of the side walls?
