And not just slowly....out in Socal I have seen many people lane split (always on rockets) at speeds that were CRAZY fast.
That's what I more frequently see. And I have seen them scrape and bounce off of cars because they were driving too fast for the narrow conditions. I'm talking about cars that STAY in their lanes..not the car drivers fault.
Those who lane split do so at their own risk, I agree. As hot as it gets here in Florida in the summer, the only thing that stops me at this point is the law.

In Europe, the MAIDS Report was conducted using Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) standards in 19992000 and collected data on over 900 motorcycle accidents in five countries, along with non-accident exposure data (control cases) to measure the contribution of different factors to accidents, in the same way as the Hurt Report. Four of the five countries where data was collected allow lane splitting, while one does not, yet none of the conclusions contained in the MAIDS Final Report note any difference in rear-end accidents or accidents during lane splitting.
I would not necessarily believe much referencing, wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit on-line, or anything the involving the OECD. I also looked into the 1990-2000 MAIDS report, only to find nothing of the study. I am always highly suspect of any studies as they can easily be skewed to promote or bias any cause.

You have to register and you can view the entire report here:
Wikipedia is often misunderstood. Articles go through a confirmation process. When a change is posted by someone to an article, it loses its "confirmed" status and goes into a state where open edits are flagged in a very obvious way. It says that way until a review board has a chance to research the changes and then either redact the edits as incorrect, or approve them with sources for the new data.
Essentially, if an article on Wikipedia is in the confirmed state, it will have source links for the data and it will be correct 99% of the time.
Many people don't understand this process, so they believe that anyone can hop on and make an edit....well, you can hop on and make an edit, but it will be flagged as "unconfirmed" until a review board reviews the data in detail.

I've been witness to a lane splitter hitting a pedestrian who was crossing the street when traffic was stopped in a jam, and I also saw a lane splitter run into a car door when the driver of that car opened the door to let a bee out because he was allergic to the sting.
Both times there were injuries, tickets given, bikes wrecked.
Can't figure how to keep your hog from overheating when sitting? How about turning it off?
I don't understand why people think their ****, or time, is more important than someone elses...
This morning I was going in between the two lines of stopped cars like every morning (same traffic jams every day). This morning a guy in is brand new Mercedes decided that I should not pass. He literally closed left toward the car on the left lane (so much that he almost bumped into it), for 10 good seconds, then went back in his lane and gave me a finger. I stopped next to him, looked at him. Took him 30 seconds to look at me again just to give me another finger. I took off in between the two lanes and went my way.
I know that what I did is unlawful, but I don't understand that behavior. Why does he care that I can move if he can't? He's stuck, anyway.
My story of the day.
