. . . at a local Harley dealer. Found it interesting that they did not ride my trade in, they didn't even start it up or check the mileage. Just walked around it, looked it over real good and made me an offer. Offer was right at KBB. The scooter I bought was just a tad under MSRP with the normal goodies - t-shirts, discounts, etc. I'm a happy camper. What are your experiences come trade in time?
I traded my wife's FB in on my SG last year. The dealer was 3 hours away, so I had sent them pics of the bike and worked out the deal. I rode it to the dealership and parked it in front. Went in and did all the paperwork and they brought my SG around. They never so much as looked at my trade in, much less rode it.
If your HD trade looks like it was well taken care of...then they'll offer you @ KBB. Gotta figure they can fix any little problems during sales floor prep.

I can tell you that the dealers are very motivated to sell their 2011 models and very aggressive on the trade calls, etc.

I traded my sportster in on my FXST. I told them I had to have lower payments than they were calculating, so they gave me way more for the Sportster than they should have. No complaints.
Same here--done a couple trades with my local dealer--2nd one they didn't even go out & look at it--they know my rep,and they know I keep my stuff nicer than anyone else. They even told me,since it was a Saturday,to take the new bike home & bring the check on Monday. Guess the fact that I bought 5 bikes from them helps!
'Course now I sell & buy only from private parties--no more dealers or trades or new bikes--figgered I've lost enough $$ in trades over the years.

I traded in my 2010 in July. The same dealer sold me the bike, but just like you when I started talking trade. They gave me a trade in value without seeing the bike or riding it. The value was excellent too. It was only $1000 less than I bought it for. I was happy.
I had a similar experience when I traded in my 2010 in July. They told me the value of the trade in without even seeing the bike. Now they had sold me the bike so they were familiar with it, but they had not seen it in awhile. I was very happy with the value they gave me. Only $1000 less than I paid for it new.
