I voted for option #1 with a caveat. I would never add tunes to a bike w/o a fairing. Looks ridiculous and you can never get decent sound.
Shakey
This guy here in town used to have some MP3 player/speaker system that bolted straight to his bars like a RAM mount....it was CRAZY loud and sounded awesome.
He had it on his VROD and I remember being completely blown away at how good it sounded, its the ONLY stereo I have ever heard that sounded good at highway speeds without a fairing.
I rode next to him and I could clearly hear the lyrics.
If I want to listen to music I will drive my truck. Never herd a system on a bike that sounded good enough to me to warrant the cost of it.
Personally, for me, riding is an organic experience between man and machine (or woman and machine as the case may be for you ). For me, wind and exhaust ARE the music.
However, I totally get that some people love their tunes (especially on touring bikes) and I'm not in any way judging anyone else.
