Coming from a Vrod it will defintely take you some time to get comfortable with a Touring bike. They aren't really top heavy, but they are big and heavey in general. Once you get them moving none of that matters though. You're easiest transition to a tourer will be to a Road King Custom.

My wife suggested we add an Ultra Classic and keep the V-Rod. I complied without protest.....immediately.

Congrats on the new bike, too bad you could not keep the V-rod (at least until spring when bikes are easier to sell). Give the new bike a couple of days, maybe a week to get in tune with it, when I traded my Dyna I knew instantly I made the right choice, but I also knew I was ready for a bagger long before I got the Road Glide.
