Default Motorcyclist Rights organizations (AMA, MRF, ABATE, etc.)

So what are people's thoughts on the various groups that promote motorcyclist rights?

I was thinking it would be a good idea to sign up for at least one to help support the riding community. Right now I'm leaning towards ABATE, since they work on the local level and probably has the most bang for the buck for me personally. But I'm not sure. I don't know much about them yet. Has anyone something good or bad to say about the groups?

I'm a former AMA member, current ABATE member for the same reason. They work more locally, providing education as well as legislative help for motorcycle issues. JMO

AMA is opposed to loud pipes and would ban them if they could. AMA and HOG are 2 groups i have no use for. JMO

The Motorcycle Riders Foundation is one of the best, if not thee best.

MRF

I was heavily involved with ABATE for years, in both Wyoming and in Nevada. ABATE can vary tremendously from chapter to chapter, as there's really no ruling body.

I don't care for any organization that posts such bullshit as a claim that a helmet is dangerous to wear. I also don't want a dime of my money wasted lobying against helmet laws while the state uses road "repair" techniques that are cheap and dangerous to motorcyclists, like the massive use of pavement snakes on some of the ramps around here, and the crappy job they sometimes do of "filling" in potholes.

I like MSF for all their rider courses
