Default RE: Ride with RUB's?

Just a few thoughts...great posting
I think that anybody that can lay down approx. 20k for a bike wheather cash or financed could be considered rich! I am sure that HD inc. has some sort of demographic profile as to the median income of new Harley purchasers. I would like to know what that number is. I would venture to guess, in comparison to the national average income, us HD owners are WELL above average.
I bought my first Harley last summer (an 03 Heritage). I have logged over 3,000 miles in about 4 months for whatever thats worth. My yard is suffering, and I have not picked up my golf clubs since I bought the bike! I have even stopped watching much TV and now spend most of my time surfing bike sites on the web & planning road trip vacations. I am even considering hiring a groundskeeper so I can have more free time to ride. (I do NOT own a single item of HD aparel) I wonder if I am a RUB? I certainly fit the profile I guess even though I live out in the country. I wonder what kinda label would have been placed on me if I had not found a great deal on my Heritage and opted for a slightly used BMW K1200LT instead? One more thing...if there is rain in the forecast I drive my Mercedes to work and leave the Heritage in the garage!

Got me a new label. I'm no longer a redneck, I'm CRACKER-AMERICAN.[sm=usa.gif]

Don't know any 'fair weather' riders. My cousin is rich, but he has an Aero and is using it for work conveyance, so he is not a true RUB. I'm an UMR (Upper Middleclass Redneck).

If we pass...... I'll wave. ( Unless I'm preoccupied.)
If you decide to share my lane....... I'll ride with ya. ( Until I decide not to. )
And if yur on the side of the road........ I'm stopping for ya, with a few simple tools and a cell phone to offer.

I dont plan many "Group Rides".... if it happens, I may join.
Most planned trips are with wife and/or Inlaws. ( They have a decked out Wing. )
I support all that "Help" our Sport with their Support and participation. ( No matter how small. )

That said.......

On my last Trip w/Inlaws, we were on the Interstate in Alabama somewhere and we were passed by a SCOOTER !
I had to hang my head !
( I ride Tail to the Inlaws...... yeah, thats it! )
Who knew those little jobs could work up a head of steam like that... he had to be doin 70mph.

Anyways..............

I was just out on the East end of Long Island . So many bikes had alot of money and time in them. Harley's cost money ,always did. When Harley first started selling bikes in 1903 they could be had for about the same as a model T ford. I road a few bikes when I was young and broke. Hey they had TWO wheels. Now I make more money( not rich) and have a Harley. I also have more to lose. Two kids, wife good job , house and some brains. Wish I didn't live in the city, but that is where the JOBS ARE. Wish I had more time to ride but I'm not willing to leave my family and job. I'm just happy I lived long enough to meet some of my dreams. I'm happy when I get to ride even if I can't go on a long run. My little short runs are in Manhattan. I know many people that would Sh_t just driving their car in the city. Hell try taking the Subway.

JUST DO WHAT YOU FEEL IS RIGHT. RIDE RIDE RIDE

The maxi-scooters are making a lot more than 70mph. My Yama Majesty (450 pounds) popped to 80 just like that and topped at 100, maybe a bit more. With the auto tranny... now there's a weird looking RUB machine!

I will ride with anybody as long as they are safe. Not everybody can afford a Harley, that doesnt make them less of a person. Sh*t, 2 of my buddies ride crotch rockets....

I know several riders who only come out when the sun is shining and if the weather is good enough for them to be out I'll ride with some of them.

I know several riders who will make a 350 mile run for lunch. (and another 350 back) We will take any excuse to go riding and often we don't even need an excuse.
