Years ago on a road trip in Colorado I ducked into a bar with a few bikes out front to avoid a nasty thunderstorm . Met the owners of the bikes 3 good guys and got an invite to crash at there place instead the hotel thing , all where professional tradesman between jobs so the party was on . They offered to show us the real sights and we got in some great riding in the area all round Colorado Spring and 100 mile radius . Funny thing is there was always a tavern or bar not far away with out fail so day 4 I asked what on the T&T agenda for the day . Kenny the ring leader asked what was T&T , my response was " our daily Tavern to Tavern ride .
Ended up being life long friends with those crazies and would manage a visit every year after Sturgis so in honor they held a big local annual T&T run named so after our meeting and becoming friends .
Thats why I dont ride this type of ride. Too many bar stops and quick 10 minute rides in between are no fun for me either. This is similar to the way we used to travel/tramp years ago. But times have changed, and I'm too old to think riding and heavy drinking go well together.
My favorite of this type run(benefit/poker run) usually have about 3 stops before returning for the party/get together and at least 30-45 minutes of riding between stops. Total time out being 5-6 hours or so.
I never understood the appeal of these huge caravan style rides where you go like 50 miles in five hours either. I would much rather go solo or with a couple friends, ride 300 miles then hit a bar after the riding is done and get hammered.
That's the way to do it, them group ride do suck when they stop ever 15 to 20 miles.
yea it can be a pain,i remember when i did the bar hopping thing some twenty five years ago, dont do bars no more,we ride to maybe one or two bars at the most stay there close it down go home with some bar *****,had to stop that **** though my wife used to get pissed off at me
